Extremely shocking bad service

What is happening with the banking industry? My husband was querying three stop orders on his account that are unauthorized. First, when he went into the branch (and after waiting for an hour) was informed that they couldn't assist and he had to contact Helpdesk - which he did. After waiting for 25 min on hold help desk informed him that there is nothing they can do to do a stop order, he must contact these companies direct. Surely with all the activity going on these days that when a customer says that these stop orders are unauthorized that the bank should take some action?
