I have banked with Absa bank for 15 yrs. I was shocked yesterday when trying firstly to use my credit card in a shop & it was declined... I had paid it in full in the morning. Then trying to use my debit card & also declined. I panicked, as I thought that someone had maybe hacked into my internet banking. I rushed to bank to be told that I have to, again take proof of identification... which I did have on me & also a utilities bill with proof of address. I only have 2 accounts..edgars, which has now be paid up & closed & a cell account..both of which are e-mailed to me. Today, I took a payslip with all my details on & it has been verified by the police & this is also not good enough??? I still CANNOT GET ACCESS TO MY MONEY... what if there was an emergency & I needed money??? Absa dont seem to care??? I was not informed at all that I was to do all this again & what gives Absa the right to supend my account without any kind of warning, sms, email... notify me!! I am so disgusted with this service & I am seriously considering closing my account.
