Unhappy client ready to leave bank

Im really unhappy with Absa, been their client for over 5 years now and serioulsy considering leaving. 1 month ago i applied for a personal loan of 6000, which was approved. last week, the 27th of May i applied for a top up of 25000 on the 6000 i already had, to pay for legal costs as i had a home loan approved by them for 220 000.

Upon following up on the 25000 application, i was told both had been withdrawn becuase they could not verify employment as my company was not listed on the telkom directory or the yellow pages, which to my understanding are both voluntary sites as you choose to be listed or not.

I just dont understand how they could use the two, surely there are other avenues to verify employment, check with SARS or Cipro, existing suppliers, website or something, but yellow pages... i dont know.

As it stands, i could lose my home loan application, iv already made plans around the approved home loan, which was approved a month and a half ago.

I appreciate their assistance, but they could not solve the problem, which i must say theyv put in. its sad that banks can have such an influence on someones life. I should choose my next bank carefully.
