NO REFUND ON TICKET WHEREAS I WAS SICK

I had bought tickets online to the SEXPO but could not go due to getting ill. I called the groupon call centre and sent an e-mail to a person named Basheer Essop. She/He told me that she can't refund due to terms and conditions. but how is it possible that you cant get a refund when you were sick and even went to the Dr. How do you get penalized due to unforseen circumstances/ circumstances beyond your control. I have asked her to let me speak to someone I can ascalate the matter to and havn't gotten any response from him/her since from my mails.
