Given the sheer mass of Groupon SA complaints already posted by disgruntled Groupon users online it feels a tad pointless posting this, but nonetheless here it is.
My wife bought a Groupon special for a local restaurant, Starling and Hero bicycle Cafe recently, whenever we tried to make a booking however we were advised we were either phoning too early (really?) or too late to make a reservation. As the restaurant was closed on Sundays and public holidays and the only day of the week we could make it was a Saturday, it became quite apparent there was no chance of us securing a reservation. As such my wife asked Groupon to cancel the voucher purchased and applied for a refund. In contravention with the CPA, Groupon responded advising us we would not be offered a full refund. A quick search on the net showed numerous examples of Groupons continued disregard for the CPA along with an apparent estranged relationship with the law of basic good business practice. A reply to Groupon went unanswered. Well done Groupon, despite all this I'll still buy the last voucher you ever sell before your demise, if only to toast the results of poor business practice and even worse customer service.
