On 24 April 2013, I was booked on SA 570 Dbn-Jhb departing at 16:55. The flight was delayed by more than an hour without any clear explanation of what was causing the delay. I missed an important meeting in Johannesburg due to the delayed flight. In addition to this, upon boarding the flight, the Captain very candidly mentioned that there was a technical fault that took longer than usual to sort out and that it would take a bit longer to reach 'cruising'. I am not sure whether this was intended to comfort passengers but it in fact did the complete opposite. Upon landing, the Captain informed us that our parking bay had changed and that there was no ground staff to drive the stairs, nor could the flight attendants open the door from the inside. We were stuck in that plane for a further 25 minutes! Was it a suprise that our flight was landing? The latter just adds insult to injury.
