I had a contract with Virgin Active in Greenpoint from Aug 2011 - Aug 2012. I asked staff when the contract was ending in order to know when I would no longer be allowed to use their services and was informed that it ended in August. In January this year I was told that the debit order had not gone through for the month. Virgin Active had been continuing to take money from my account four months after the contract's expiration, apparently due to an 'auto-renewal' of the contract. Surely I should have been sent a notification of this renewal once it began.
