Account not blocked when card got

My edgars account card and id got i went into the george branch at the mall and advised them of my card getting they stated that the account will be blocked and closed as my account was upto date as i made my last payment of R500. its been 1year and a 1/2, now and i didnt recieve any call or anything from them. i tried to open a mr price account only to be told i was black listed by Edgars. i went into Canal walk the lady at the desk was very helpful as i was very upset as i had been charged and blacked listed all of a sudden for something i did not do!!! i want my name clear of this i dont have any debt in my name and intend to keep it that way. i was advised that they (George branch) did not block or cancel my account and the person that my card had been running up my account and making a payment of R150 THEN SPENDING AGAIN. PLUS I GOT HANDED OVER TO LAWYERS WHICH I WAS NOT AWARE OF AT ALL AS THERE WAS NO CONTACT FROM EDGARS TO ADVICE ME ABOUT THIS. I am highly upset as due to edgars now i got a bad name and a amount of R3800.00 outstanding on my account which i did not use as i didnt even have a card!!!
