I signed a 3 month lease agreement to rent a property at a monthly rental of R 7500.00 upon signing the contract I have paid total of R 15000.00 including the deposit. The contract was valid from 31 August ending 30 November. When it was time to pay the rent for the month of November being our last month in the property my husband lost his business and we were not able to make payment of the rent of R 7500.00. I explained this to the above mentioned person on the 1st November and asked that they give us time to pay the monies although they refused on the 15 November we got letters from the lawyers stating that we need to pay immediately lawyer fees or they will attach our valueable etc, as soon as I was paid my bonus I paid the outstanding rent to the attorney as requested by the owner and the attorney, thus vacating the property on the 5th Dec. I have now requested that my deposit less the 5 days pro-rata be paid back to me, and to date still no response from the Attorney or the agent that I have signed the agreement with. I have today contacted the agent to ask about the balance of the deposit and he advised that he paid my deposit to the owne
