My story with Home Affairs' incompetence started way back in 2008, when they failed to register my marriage... to cut a long story short it took me a telephone to the Zuma hotline to finally resolve this and obtain my passport.
Subsequently, I got divorced in 2012 and to date they have not updated my marital status... their staff actually had the audacity to tell me they cannot give me a turn around time cause they are just the post office and I'm looking at her bewildered and then she says don't shout at me! And I wasnt even shouting imagine what she would have done if I had shouted at her. Any way being the reasonable person I am I contacted the court who verified they had submitted all the relevant information to Home Affairs. So i go back to HA to find out if there is anything further they require, and according them there is nothing further they need but they still cant tell me when this will be resolved. Do these people know that they are playing with peoples lives? My ex husband harasses me on a daily basis as he cannot marry cause the the database shows he is still married to me? Where will it ever end... even the papers are tired of reporting these issues.
