We lived in our house in Midrand estates since 2007 with an occupation certificate in full glory. This certificate should imply that we filled in all the forms required to occupy the house right, this should include water etc etc. September 2012 they added R67462.61 to our account, because they forgot to bill us water for the last couple of years. We lodged countless complaints, visited the municipality and later sent a lawyer letter. Then the amount was reversed, and then suddenly this month it appeared again.
So In my opinion, Ekurhuleni first messed up our application in 2007 by not adding water to the account, then suddenly woke up last year, messed up our account again, and now suddenly woke up again, and then just expect us to pay their crazy bill. I can understand if the bill was for one year, maybe two years, but since 2007 .. come on, you cannot penalize someone for your own incompetence??
