I called around and Torga Optical gave me the cheapest quote for lenses and though I know cheaper is not always better, they are quite a reputable name within the spectacle industry.
I received a final quote of R2700 (I asked the lady to make sure as this sounded very good compared to the other places, to which I was assured it is correct)
I arrived at Torga for my eye test, but popped in to SpecSavers just to get a counter quote to see their charges. R5700 (Hahaha)
Had my eye test done and was given a final figure of over R6000. What? Exactly!
I explained the quote I was given telephonically and the lady apologised as she worked on the wrong lens type and Blah! Blah! Blah! I didn't care as I arrived with the intention to pay R2700. They were immediately able to reduce their price to R4500 (So I was being ripped off either way)
I just said go ahead because I need the specs and did not have time to go through the legal processes.
It is 7 working days later and I've since called them twice asking when the specs would be ready.
I will be cancelling my order if I receive no reply by today.
PS: the ladies are utterly unprofessional, loud an uncouth
