Sizwe paid for my husband dentures, but they are not prepared to pay for the removal of his brittle teeth. One of the teeth already broke off and only the root is stuck in the gums. As mentioned by the orthodontist, the teeth are too brittle to extract. Chances is 100% of it splintering while he is attempting to extract the teeth the normal way. Surgical procedure to remove the teeth is essential. The ortodontist wanted to do it with local anaesthesia, but that quote was also rejected by Siswe (Denis). My other question to Siswe would be: how can they pay for the dentures, but not for the removal of the teeth?? A complaint was lodged with CMS on 29/04/2013, ref: CMS45059. Up to date, no response received from Sizwe. The cut off date for an answer was 24/08/2013. This is not acceptable. I know there is scheme rules, but it is a fact of life that for every rule, there is an exeption. I emailed a photo of my husband's teeth to the CMS for what it is worth. Maybe it is time to change medical aid?
