Premium deducted on wrong car with no confirmation

I have been paying insurance for a car since September 2012.

When I contacted budget last year it was about an opel astra, and then I got a call in the end of January 2013 about my honda Jazz Insurance.

Firstly this is my wife's car, not registered under my name. Secondly I have been paying insurance for it for 5 months without my knowledge as I only asked for a quote. I have since cancelled the policy.

To my knowledge i didn't receive anything in the post or via email confirming my particulars otherwise I would have picked it up and sorted it out immediately.

Originally when I contacted Budget I was merely looking for a quote on my opel astra but was immediately transferred through to Sales and was apparently given a policy number but did not receive anything so didn't know that it was being put through as insurance from September.

I emailed their complaints department almost 3 weeks ago now and am still waiting for a response. When I cancelled my policy they said they would call me, still waiting. When I emailed they said they would contact me as soon as possible, still waiting.

I want to know how this happened and would like a response because as it is unacceptable
