I took out a contract with Escape Gym in Umhlanga. When i initially spoke to the salesperson, i informed the salesperson that i was under debt review. He said that is not a problem, you can still take out the contract. I was subsequently informed by my debt review company that it is illegal to take out any financial contract whilst under debt review and that the contract is null and void due to this. Due to this, i stopped payment for this illegal contract. I have now been handed over to a company called "Credit Works". I have contacted them on numerous occasions stating all of the above and was told to then ignore any future SMS's i receive from them. Today (06/02/2014) i got a Final Demand for payment from 'Credit Works' and called them AGAIN. The consultant i spoke to was informed by me of the entire situation and she stated that even though i was under debt review and misled by Escape Gym's salesperson;, because i signed the contract i will still be liable to pay. It seems that these people make up their own law. Can someone competent sort this out as i refuse to pay???
