My wife and I signed an Offer to Purchase on a property on the 12/06/2013. The Bond was approved through Standard Bank on the 18/06/2013. We signed the first set of documents at the first Lawyers on the 17/07/2013
We then signed at the bond attorneys (Du Plessis van Loggenberg) on the 15/08/2013. Since then there has been delay after delay with Standard Bank and the bond attorneys as there was a discrepancy in the legal property description of the sectional title and the bond attorneys were waiting for Standard Bank to make the amendment.
It has been four month since the start of the whole process and still the property is not in our name. We have had to pay three months occupational rent of R4500, 00 each month, when we budgeted on only paying one or two months. This money could have been going towards the paying of our bond.
I feel it is only fair that Standard Bank refund us at least one months occupational rent as they have delayed this process.
