I travelled to JHB via Mauritius from London in Feb2011. My hand luggage was deemed safe to travel with me from London to Mauritius. However on check in at MAU the check in person insisted that the bag was a kg heavier adn had to be checked in. I opened the bag and showed the lady that all that was in the bag was a Canon SLR and a set of clothes.
On arrival to OR Tambo, the lock on the bag was removed and the camera anj jacket taken out. I immediately contacted SAA and AM, got the relevant details, and then forwarded the information to AM (MR pedro Lewis). After several emails to Mr Lewis and AM to date nothing. Not even received adn automatic acknowledgement from AM.
Totally digusted with the customer service considering at the time of the incident AM confirmed that any loss will be compensated dependant on how new the items were.
