Not accepting responsibility for an erro

I contacted Emirates Help Centre on the 6th July to make a reservation to travel to Spokane, Washington (travelling on the 6th Aug). The booking agent booked a flight to Washington DC (one would expect an international airline agent to know the difference between the various Washington's). I picked this up during my pre-flight preparations on the 4th Aug. I contacted the help centre to try and rectify the error. Over the next two days massive amounts of energy went into trying to rectify this error. I clearly asked for a flight to Spokane Washington and not Washington DC and this will be reflected on the telephone recording, yet Emirates accepted no responsibility for their part in this. I was told the only option is to travel business class (economy was overbooked) at an additional cost of R13k. The most I could offer is an R4k, but was told this would not be sufficient. I looked forward to trip for months, attending a very special workshop. I was left with no option but to call it off, leaving a bitter aftertaste. No 1 Airline for 2013, most certainly not with treatment like this!! No compassion was shown on behalf of Emirates. Bitterly disappointed.
