I've taken my USB Modem to Vodacom Repairs (heating up and dropping connection). After a technician assessed it, he called me saying that the USB Connector was damaged - not covered by guarantee and the manager said that this is considered negligent/miss use of the product.
All I've done with the modem is plug it in to my laptop. If the product can't withstand this kind of usage (which is what its made for) then I believe that Vodacom supplies inferior quality hardware/products. I regret taking up this contract with Vodacom-will not make the same mistake again!
Here's the reply after referring the matter to their Repairs Escalations Dept:
"Please be advised that Vodacom works in line with the Manufactures terms and conditions. As per warranty card, any form of physical or liquid damages is not covered under warranty. This is not acknowlegded as a Manufactures defect on the unit. Regrettably we cannot repair any unit under warranty that does not meet the Manufactures warranty criteria. Please submit an insurance claim if covered."
Seems like they'll not understand or beleive the fact that I've NOT mis-used the product-they've made up their minds! The "Dairy" is blaming the "Cow"!
