My Month to month contract is now a 2 year??

I have an iBurst account with Autopage. It expired last year. I asked to extend it to month to month and increase to 5GB bandwidth with no need for new hardware. I then moved house since then and now the signal is so bad that it unuseable. I then tried to cancel it and I am told I am tied in for another 10 months and would need to pay the full amount of the remainder of the "contract" to cancel. I have consulted regarding the Consumer Protection Act and this is not allowed. So now I am still fighting with Autopage Menlyn but can see that they are going to try make me pay this amount for a service that is not working in my area. When are these companies going to move into the 21st century and stop trying to rip off people's money???
