Approximately a year ago, I had my string of pearls restrung at the Pearl shop in Clearwater Mall. After I received my pearls back, I counted 59 pearls in my string instead of 60. I thought I must have miscounted them before. Today I went back to the shop to buy a new clasp and had to restring them again. This time I wrote 59 pearls next to my signature upon entering the shop. Upon receiving my pearls, I counted 58 and immediately told them one is missing. At first the assistant was adamant that I am mistaking, but after showing her my slip, she magically produced an extra pearl laying on the counter and offered to have it restrung. I then realised that a year ago one of my pearls also went missing! I asked to speak to the manager who was on leave and was then connected to the shop owner via cellphone. She was also adamant that they weigh the pearls and that I must be mistaking. But fact is, when we asked the assistant where she wrote the weight, it was discovered that it was never weighed. No apology offered. This is daylight. One pearl at a time, this shop is its customers. Who knows if they even return real pearls or maybe replace them with fake ones instead!?
