Repair on a Ryobi edge trimme

In Jan this year we bought an edge trimmer and the starter recently packed up so we took it back to the Mica where we bought it from at Signet Terrace in Lenasia. We were attended by Sonto who assured us that the trimmer would be ready in two weeks and that we wouldn't have to pay. Two weeks later we went and were told the machine wasn't ready and to check the following week, we went back and nothing. On Wednesday we got a call from Elizabeth to tell us they wanted R600 to repair the machine. I asked why because we only paid R1000 plus for it and its only three months. We went there yesterday and Elizabeth gave us attitude stating that we aren't the only customers because we wanted to know why we had to pay more then half the retail value for a repair. She listed a few other things that were wrong and said they aren't covered by the guarantee. When we tried to reason with her she then proceeded to bid us farewell while we were still talking to her. She was very rude and I am never buying anything from Mica again. I need to pay to get the machine back having waited four weeks for feedback, I've called and been there three times and nothing. I'm very disappointed.
