CTM - incorrect product purchasing advice

I went to CTM to look at tiles for a job in PE - the plan was to find something in Cape Town that we could telephonicly order in PE . Adrian advised us that we could place the order then and there, pay for it and simply arrange for collection in PE.
We asked for a 440 x 440 terracotta type tile to use inside. He showed us the Old Faithful tile, which was not the correct size, but met all of our other specifications. We asked him if it needed sealing and he told us that it did not.
When he was processing our order on the computer he asked us how much grout we wanted. We did not know the correct amount to order so asked his advice, he told us that a 3 - 5mm grout space would be fine.
We have subsequently discovered that not only do the tiles need sealing, we were given the incorrect information regarding the spacing for these tiles.
When I went to CTM on Monday to complain I was told that the adhesive ordered was also wrong - not strong enough for the tiles ordered.
As a result there has been a massive time delay and a big extra cost outlay.
CTM are refusing to take any responsibility for this situation - an order that was placed on their advice given.
I will never shop there again
