I bought a pair of First Ascent Men's Compression Cycling Short's (R 599.00) last Tuesday 22-Oct. The shorts looked great in-store: they're black with white panels on the sides, and have a bright-orange padded insert. HOWEVER the colour from the bright-orange insert ran in the very first wash, leaving horrible looking rust-coloured blotches on the white side-panels.
I was understandably very dissatisfied since the cycling shorts had cost a lot and I had followed the washing instructions precisely. I'd expected better quality from a reputable brand like First Ascent, so I took the shorts back to Sportman's Warehouse on Saturday 26-Oct to ask for an exchange or refund..
Unfortunately I didn't keep my reciept as I trusted the First Ascent brand and since I wasn't expecting to have to return the shorts. Big mistake! Without a reciept Desmond (manager) refused to let me return the defective merchandise, even though I could prove to him that I had bought the shorts at his store only a few days earlier with my bank statement.
Best he could do for me was to agree to send the shorts to Cape Town for repair (2 - 3 weeks). Is this service? What a joke!
