On Saturday 26th of October in particular I was at Menlyn Park Shopping Centre and was in need of using the public bathrooms. The outside bathrooms at the Woolworths entrance, as well as the Checker entrance and the bathrooms where the Verimark Store is were absolutely appalling and disgusting. The heat in those bathrooms makes one wonder what diseases and bacteria are breading out of those bathrooms, it is so hot that one can almost not even breath and the smell in those bathrooms was indescribable.
Professor Mark Wilcox, Clinical Director of Microbiology at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, said leaving the lid up can allow a cloud of bacteria to explode into the air, settling on nearby surfaces. I cannot see that the heat helps to prevent illness. The toilet sanitiser dispensors were empty, the hand soap dispensors were empty, the floors were littered with papers and other things as well being covered in urine or leaking toilet water. The people in charge of cleaning the bathrooms felt it more important to ignore clients complaints and continue their chit chats with friends and colleagues.
