In this weeks local newspaper "Boksburg Advertiser" we saw an advert for SPAR milk at R 14.99 per 2 litre. When I arrived at the store I noticed that the price had been changed to R 17.99 per litre.
At this point I must stress that we live in the far South of Boksburg which is quite a distance away. We have our own local stores (selling milk for cheaper than this not even on special) in our area that I could have gone to.
When I asked the manager about this he said it was a misprint, sorry and there is nothing he can do. I mentioned I had driven a long way especially to take advantage of the sale especially as there was no limit to the amount of units per customer we could buy. the simple response was sorry but that they were not changing it.
I think that this is disgusting, misleading and wrongful behaviour on the part of SPAR. I do not believe that this was a misprint as surely these are checked and checked again before they are sent out for printing.
I am convinced that this is a deliberate ploy to bring customers to the store. Even though they are let down some will probably decide that they are there anyway and do some shopping. In that way bring in more business.
