Last week I bought a milk tart & coconut tart from the store at Lakeside Mall only to find that the coconut tart had become mouldy. I returned it together with the milk tart and got my money back, as I would expect nothing less. However, my concern is that there were stacks of these tarts & other cakes on tables in the bakery area instead of being kept in the fridge. Thinking that they may be off cos they were not in the fridge I decided to choose tarts from the fridge which ended up being mouldy. I don't usually inspect cakes/tarts as I expect them to only be off if its past the expiry date and the tarts I chose still had time to get to expiry. I'm sure many people have the same approach so how many people then are consuming products that are off/mouldy/rotten. This can make people sick, especially kids. This surely cannot be acceptable as any cake/tart with cream or milk belongs in a fridge. I went back to the store yesterday and found the same... stacks of cakes/tarts on tables. I have never seen this in Ballito/Gateway or even at the other Richards Bay stores. I trust that you will realise the seriousness of the health implications and do something about it.
