On 23 July 2013 at 17h40 I bought prepared food from Food Lovers Market in Tokai/Retreat in Cape Town. Two hours later I dished up the food, warmed it in the microwave and ate it. Among the food which I purchased was broccoli and cauliflower in white sauce with melted cheese over it which had a sour smell to it. When I tasted it it was clear that the white sauce was prepared with milk which was off. I purchased about two thirds of a kg of it and at R69.99 one expects them to use fresh ingredients in prepared food. Instead it seems that the prepared food becomes the most economical way to disposed of fresh food which is past its sell by date. I also purchased about a third of a kg of potato salad of which most of the larger pieces of potato was not cooked through - disgusting! Again, at R59.99/kg one would expect them to at least served cooked potato.
