I went to the Pick and Pay store in Rosettenville, I purchased goods to value of R55.90... when i wanted to pay the teller 2x 5c pieces, she refused to take them, I then went to the white Portuguese woman that was there and asked why they would not take 5c pieces, i was told that it has been company policy and they don't take 5c pieces, i gave the cashier the amount owing including the 2x5c to make up the amount i owed and walked out... Now what gives Pick and Pay the right not to take legal tender, even with the cessation of minting of 1/2c pieces (2002-03-28) even these have remained legal tender. REF : [URL Removed]
