On our way home this evening from Galleria at about 19h45 we witnessed a metro vehicle, NDM 7419, escorting a drunk driver in a Toyota Corolla ND 555??? from Moss Kolnik bridge, south bound along Kingsway Rd to the N2 south Adams Rd on ramp. But this was only AFTER the drunk driver almost side swiped us weaving across Kingsway Rd.
We followed them, then heard them saying something in zulu to the drunk driver via the loud speaker (we thought they were going to pull him over). But no, they were apparently saying their farewells to each other! The drunk driver waving out the window as he almost had a head on collision with a vehicle coming from the opposite direction as he turned onto the south bound on ramp to the freeway. I continued to follow the metro vehicle, who turned around by Toti train station and proceeded back up Kingsway Rd to the Total garage opposite Woolworths.
Is this the norm nowadays? Does this mean the laws in SA are now non existent? What would have happened if he had actually had an accident with us and injured my wife or daughter? Or, what if it were YOUR family involved?
