SASSA clearly does not honour and respect the elderly, Durban Station is a disgrace with old age pensioners waiting up to 8 hours only to be told that they need to come back. Why are the forms not issued one time when the letter is picked up, why subject pensioners to this, many have to get up very early and then be disrespected by SASSA staff and made to feel inadequate. There are no canteen facilities and the little tea-rooms are way over priced, toilets are in an awful state and there is no privacy of details when being assessed, its all out in the open. More centers need to be opened such as possibly Bluff, Chatsworth, Phoenix, Kwa-Mashu, Pinetown, this would go along way to alleviate pain and suffering on pensioners. The other night on TV the spokesperson for SASSA said they had state of the art systems and proper checks were being done on staff, nothing of which I observed, what I did observe was favouritism. Something really needs to be done perhaps SASSA should cease to exist you are empowered to provide a service not provide your pockets with extra tax payers money rather use it to better the service profit comes at a price...
