A regular customer of Rembrandt Butchery, I have had 2 recent incidences which prompts me to warn others:
I ordered 16 Lamb Loin Chops & 16 best-end chops cut 15mm thick for which I paid over R 400. The quality of chops is appalling and I am honestly embarrassed to serve this "stewing meat" to my guests. Besides the random thickness of chops (upto 30mm), it took 45 minutes to trim the excess congealed blood, fat, grissle and ribs attached to the so called "best-end" chops. Many pieces were barely edible, tough, knuckle-boned excuses for chops with shortrib attached. Even the Loin chops were not all "loin" chops and are cut so long that we have paid for at least an additional 30cms of bone on each chop. Customers should be wary of the real value of meat bought from Rembrandt - the inedible offcuts and stewing meat attached to the chops weighs almost 400gms. We estimate that with offcuts and the extra bone; and given that the price of chops averaged R110/kg - I paid at least 20% to 25% extra for bad butchering and cheat cuts. Service of late has also been arrogant and rude and my family is definitely taking our business elsewhere.
