I have applied for a work permit as a British citizen in South Africa through Global Visas The application was declined on 3 points which were deemed to be surmountable and an appeal submitted in August 2012, with the advice that it would take 6 months for a response. For the last few months I have struggled to have any communication with Global Visas despite calls every few days and numerous emails to find out the status and indeed get some advice as I will have to leave the country on an expedition soon - and Global Visas have my passport showing entry in S Africa in January 2011. I am incredibly frustrated as I have never experienced such bad customer service, high staff turnover, no effective handover procedures and general lack of care once they have your money. I am not expecting Global Visas to wave magic wands with Home Affairs, I am happy to follow correct procedures - but I have spent a huge amount of money to employ them as my agents - and they are simply ignoring me as a customer. It seems as though I am not alone. They are playing with people's lives and having worked in customer service for many years I have been stunned at the lack of care.
