Repair of an IPhone 6+

I bought an IPhone 6+ at Wynberg branch last month (July), the phone had a problem it goes on without being pressed. I asked my daughter to take it back as the phone still have a guarantee to be fixed on Monday 15/08/2022. They took the phone mentioning that it will take two weeks for it to be fixed, how come? They didn't even take out her sim card, and a cover, they took it with. My daughter is in Grade 12 and she's using that phone for her studies and applications for tertiary. Why do they take the phone for two weeks, how is she going to respond or get messages for her studies. When I called them they said they will contact me until now no one have came backm to me. Why did they take the sim card and the cover in the first place and keep her phone for two weeks, and not even bother to get back to me
