I am a UK qualified clinical psychologist, working for an NGO in a resource poor part of Cape Town. I have been trying to register as a clinical psychologist in South Africa for 2.5yrs. I am severely hampered in the service that I can offer to local children and families, by my lack of registration. I have been in frequent communication with the HPCSA over this extended time period and have never received the 'delightful service delivery' that the voice mails (always voice mail - never an answered phone) promise. Today I tried to call an administrative staff member of the Board of Psychology, and her manager, both of whom had a voicemail message promising the delightful service delivery but no actual message facility so I had to listen to the empty promise and hang up. I have been waiting for a response to an email for 2 weeks. The service delivery team are slow, responding perhaps within one week, generally only when prompted with a second email asking why the service delivery team can't deliver a decent service. Words can't explain the level of frustration I feel with this organisation and the poor, slow, and unhelpful service.
