My niece and friends went to the dbn branch over the holidays. She is 15 was served alcohol without requesting her ID and was given free shooters by management even when she said she had too much to drink and needed to go home. Her friends even asked management to stop serving her alcohol as she was drunk but this did not stop them. I have tried to contact the management of Hooters SA to let them know about their Durban branch's conduct but my calls have not been returned. My brothers daughter is currently undergoing intensive therapy as she collapsed on her way out of the restaurant/ night club Hooters. She was hospitalised for over 3 weeks with severe alcohol poisoining and swelling of the brain. My brother has reported this to the SAPS who are currently working with the NPA to finalise a case. After investigation it is has come to their attention that Hooters did not even have a valid licence to sell alcohol/ trade with the local authority and that this was criminal. I have been told by my nieces friends that Hooters is known among all the kids as the place to go and drink if you are under age. This is a warning to all parents. The NPA are contacting the franchisor in the USA.
