Discovery Health
False pretenses

After going through practice after practice on the discovery healthcare database (most dentist had moved - out of date info) and eventually finding a dentist which doesn't require up-front money for a simple diagnosis and reference to a dental specialist to do a wisdom tooth extraction. I got sent to the nearest available 'Discovery" Hospital and was told only to take R200 for admission. Upon arrival I was told that because my plan is a delta classic saver plan i must pay R5000 up front. I was then given another 2 numbers of practices in the vicinity who both told me they had no agreement with Discovery and that i would have to pay everything upfront and claim back in my own time. Surely the code for tooth extraction of a wisdom tooth does not fall under the cosmetic category and a simple tooth number and description (code) should allow Discovery to pay the practitioner in full and take it from my savings which are currently standing above the R12000 mark.
The program on the Discovery website called maPs is utterly useless if you are on the plan I'm on which is ridiculous considering I pay R3260/month for myself, my wife and my 21month year old daughter.
