Anyone who is thinking of booking an event at The Cradle - think twice!
I am highly disappointed at the way The Cradle have breached the contract we had for our wedding. I was supposed to have my wedding on 7 December 2013. This reservation was cancelled via email towards the end of April 2013. As mentioned in the contract this deposit was to go towards food/drinks on the evening. The contract states, "Cancellation of 6 months or more prior to the function - 50% of the deposit will be held as a cancellation fee." We have paid a total of R33 000 to The Cradle and they refuse to give any of our money back. According to the Consumer Protection Act (Sections 64 & 65) there is no reason for The Cradle to not refund the full amount of the deposit, since the cancellation was conveyed such a long time before the function date.
This is completely unacceptable and I cannot believe that we can't be refunded when The Cradle has ample time to fill this spot and they have incurred no expenses by our cancellation. I cannot believe how greedy some people can be.
I would like The Cradle to get back to me on this matter ASAP because this behavior is unacceptable.
