The Furniture Guild
Appalling new kitchen by The Furniture Guild

Unprotected, dusty, atrociously manufactured carcasses were installed. Chipped, badly painted doors, dripping paint streaks on shelves, uneven carcasses & rough melamine edges were just a few of the many appalling details. The entire installation had to be scrapped & removed. Lyrene Zimmerman requested a second chance of the scullery only & told us that we would have a 'perfect' kitchen & "if we weren't happy she would give us a 100% refund"! The second installation still had its faults & the company were unable to produce an acceptable painted door sample. They kept requesting more chances & said that they wanted to finish the scullery. A history of incompetent workmanship, mistakes not being identified, delay in the 2nd installation, a lack of professionalism & our loss of trust in their ability, lead us to firing the company & cancelling the rest of the scullery & kitchen installation. As a gesture of good will, we said we would keep the scullery carcasses. Our decision was a mistake. We were charged R58 000, 3 times more than professional valuations of R18 000! We feel that we have been totally ripped-off. We obtained legal advice, incurred financial loss & 6 wk delay in completion.
