I contracted the services of Mr Johnny Smit (Prima pools) this time last year to build a swimming pool and do minor renovation work.
During the latter half of construction of the pool, I found myself repeatedly becoming involved, trying to rectify problems and oversee workers, as Mr Smit was often away from site, or at best only there for very brief periods. His staff, while friendly, needed someone there to ensure good understanding of what needed to be done, as skills were lacking in certain areas.
Some of the problems are:
Mosaic tiles were badly applied and are not flush with weirs or level with waterline. Marbeliting was done very badly and not in the agreed colour. Aim flows cannot in properly. Mr Smit agreed to redo the marbelite in correct colour, but has never come back to me to arrange a date for the work.
Paving is not correctly sloped and water does not drain away during rain. Grouting is coming out and cracking in many places and there are hollow patches under the pavers, due to improper compacting. This is after having relaid the paving a second time!
To date they have not returned to site after promising to come and rectify defects and poor workmanship.
