I bought an Asus laptop in the US. Before I bought it, I checked where the closest authorised service center was to where I live, 2 are in CPT. This close proximity of the service centers, world wide warranty & good reputation was the only reasons for buying an Asus product. My laptop crashed & I was advised by Asus technical support it has to sent to a service center. I phoned the service centers in CPT, 1 doesn't exist anymore; the other 1 doesn't service Asus anymore. I was shocked at the lack of Asus support. I phoned the Johannesburg office and was told that the contract with the service centers were suspended (they're STILL on the Asus website). I was told I need to courier my laptop to JHB and back (one direction was for my own account) because it was only a local warranty (this would not have been a problem if Asus had service centers in CPT since I would take my laptop there myself). I am really not happy with the Asus service because I bought the Asus laptop thinking that there was a repair center close. Why one earth would a brand new laptop crash (the error indicated a hardware fault). Where is the "outstanding" Asus quality of products and service???
