This Year I purchased a Renault Fluence, the New list base price for this particular car was R189 000, more being paid with extras. 8 months later the Renault Dealerships in JHB offered me between R90-R120K fore the same car, Car is perfect with 18000km on the clock.
After asking Renault SA's Marketing and Sales Director/Manager on Kaya FM Live if this was accurate for this car, I was told that this was not accurate and that Renault SA would assist me in getting the highest resale value for the car.
I spoke at length that a car that loses between 43-53% of its value in the first year without extenuating circumstances would put said car in the worst resale value position of all cars in the country, again I was told that this did not sound right and was given assurance that a higher resale value would be worked on with the help of Renault SA.
Months of the phone being put down on my ear and being ignored have ensued.
Finally today I received an email saying:
...On making an estimated value of a used vehicle, Dealers take many factors into account...
I feel I need to warn other potential Renault Customers to avoid this brand if you ever hope to one day resell your car, a great pity
