Peugeot South Africa
To buy or not to buy through a Dealership?

We bought a car in June 2012 from Peugeot East Rand cash, expecting to get nothing but the best service as they are a registered dealer. Within this period of 6 months of having the car, we have sent it back for repairs a number of two times (first time being within the first three months after delivery). We experienced a difficulty with the clutch system and queried it and were told to change the fuel that we used. The second time the car completely shut off and was immobile. We sent it back requesting a refund as this was unacceptable and the company chose to repair it, stating that it was a faulty sensor on the car. On 23 January 2013, the clutch system completely failed and we are now having to see to the full repair of the car as Peugeot East Rand and Peugeot SA refuse to do a refund or proper repair on this car. We have to date not received the invoice, service history book, manual or paperwork signed when the car was delivered and have requested for this numerous times. We have tried to use the Consumer Protection Act to our advantage in this situation but were unsuccessful. This is not the fully detailed story.
