Toyota
Unwilling to help with electronic failure

I purchased a secondhand Volvo S40 T5 (A) from Halfway Toyota Fourways on 24th January 2012, the car had 110 000km on and was 4years old, just out of its maintenance plan due to the kilometers being over 100 000. Not even a month after purchasing the car the alternator seized and a v belt snapped. The total cost of repairs to make the car drivable was about R8500, which I paid for out of my pocket. When I phoned the manager and told him about the situation and asked him if they are going to pay for it he just said no. Because I didn't purchase an extended warranty. I didn't purchase an extended warranty because as I understand, according to the CPA, the seller in this case Halfway Toyota Fourways is liable for all such issues for 6 months after purchase, I also had to have the battery replaced a month later, after I told them the battery was pulling hard when they checked it with the pre-sale check, but they said it passed the check.
