On 26 March 2013 I needed a quick breakfast before I drove to Johannesburg for an interview and ordered a "Shape" breakfast at Wimpy. This included muesli, yogurt and fresh fruit, that suited me fine. Although the meal arrived quite fast, and looked very appetizing, I found that the fruit was extremely hard and cut into big chunks. However, I proceeded to have my meal without complaining. About a third of the way through, though, a piece of melon did it for me: it was so hard, that it broke my bottom denture in two.
I complained to the waitress that I had broken my dentures on the hard fruit, but she did not bat an eyelid, nor even sympathise, but simply took the half-eaten meal away. The cashier likewise ignored my complaint and proceeded to charge me the full amount for the meal. I did not add a tip (guess why?) and got a dirty look.
I had to find a dentist very fast to see if the dentures could be repaired, and had to make an appointment for later. I was late for the appointment in Johannesburg, and in the end had to pay the dentist R1318, 00 for the repair and consultation. Wimpy certainly owes me!
