I bought a choc-chip muffin at Kauai Virgin Active Bedfordview and was shocked when the attendant rang up R18.50 for the item. On the way home, I stopped in at a BP garage and they were selling the same size muffin for R9.50. To me, this is extortion. Kauai might say well, they must pay staff salaries and rent, and I say that they are overpriced in everything. The situation is this, Kauai has branches everywhere, in malls and gyms. Their executives probably drive the most expensive cars and own fabulous homes and their kids go to the best schools because of the ridiculous prices they sell their food. On the other hand, the staff at their outlets probably send their children to government schools, work ridiculous shifts, and to top it all, earn low salaries. So, where is all this overcharge money going to? I would like a cost break-down of their muffins. If I am correct, it costs less than R6.00 to make, and here they are selling it at R18.50. Do the math. Extortion!
