Poor service

I took my mom out for a small birthday celebration lunch at the Gateway Shopping Centre's branch of Cape Town Fish Market. I ordered a simple starter, and mains for the both of us. Before doing this I asked the waiter if it were possible to receive the order before a certain time, as I had an appointment to attend to, and calculated how much time I needed to get there. I was assured he would assure this. I then confirmed this with the manager on duty as well. If I were told it were not possible, I would not have placed a lunch order, finished a beverage and left. Our drinks orders were staggered, my mom received her main before the starter. I received my main - and still no starter. My mom's main did not come with tartar sauce, as described in the menu. On raising this, I was told we had to request the sauce (despite it not being stated as optional) - to which I retorted if I should have specified I would like fish with my fish and chips). In the end I was also told the waiter was new, and the starter (a simple tempura dish) takes a long time to prepare (longer than sushi or fried fish?!). Passing the buck, and feeble excuses really...
