My husband and I have been coming to steam cafe or what is what known before, Richdens (hillcrest) Spar cafe. They sold lovely breakfasts and always a homely environment. The previous owner, Val, whom has now left long ago, and was on top form keeping the cafe up to date and always having a warm smile on her face, has now left and the new owners of Steam Cafe has made coming to the cafe unpleasant.
My husband and I came to the cafe on Saturday morning for our usual breakfast (sunshine). The waitresses are still the same, but somewhow changed attitude. We used to be served a full plate of breakfast. Now with the new take over we get one egg, one rasher of bacon, and one tomato and one piece of toast for R24.99. Sadly the butter and marmalade/jam is seperate. You need to buy these.
The sausages were and always raw and we were served beef sausages, instead of pork. The bacon was cooked from frozen so was hard. I can honestly say we wont be coming back to the 'new Steam Cafe at Richdens' anymore.
