Carvers Restaurant offered a "Xmas in July" special buffet, which included a glass of Gluhwein, a glazed gammon, yorkshire pudding and Xmas pudding at R150 pp (R10 more than their normal price). When we asked for the glass of Gluhwein on arrival, the waitress first had to check, then came back to say they "hadn't made it yet" and later came back to offer to make it if we could tell her how and supply her with a recipe. At least she was willing to try. The general standard of the buffet was very poor and the promised "extras" weren't delivered on. I certainly didn't see any Yorkshire pudding and we are still waiting for the Christmas pudding (and the rest of the dessert buffet - normally my favourite - was disappointing to say the least). The salads were terrible - coleslaw was inedible (it tasted like it had oxidised and was very bitter.) The entire buffet was far below standard. Dry vegetables, unappetising casseroles. We could have done a lot better elsewhere at R250 per head (including the drinks) and the four of us left feeling cheated. I emailed the manager, but haven't received a response. We won't be going back - and I felt embarrassed having invited friends along.
