Cape Town Fish Market
Food Poisoning Cape Town Fish Market Stellenbosch

For Mother's Day (12 May 2013), I treated my Mother and family to the Sunday Lunch Buffet at Cape Town Fish Market in Stellenbosch. All together, we were a party of six adults. What a huge and embarrassing mistake!

My party became ill with food poisoning following the buffet. My mother became ill during the buffet, and had to use the restaurant facilities twice on account of diarrhoea. Another member experienced stomach cramps and soiled his pants within minutes of leaving the restaurant. He is still not well.

We contacted the manager (s) at the restaurant to report this situation (12 May). After some explanation and convincing, we were offered a full refund on our bill of R1000.00. Later, the manager (Aaron) called again to reduce the refund to 50% of the bill.

My mother was sick all evening; she experienced weakness, was bloated with cold sweats and fever, and spent all day today (13 May) in hospital, and had to undergo many tests. Her medical bill far exceeded the refund offered.

I feel it is incumbent that we compile and submit a full report, including medical findings (where relevant), to the The National Consumer Commission (NCC).
